Awakening - Day 6
Confession
God's Word for Today
Read Proverbs 28:13
Thoughts for Today
In 1904, when a revival was sweeping through Wales, two men from London visited Wales to witness the move of God. When they arrived at the railroad station in Wales, they asked the ticket agent where the revival was. The agent placed his hand over his heart and said, "Gentlemen, it is here, underneath my buttons."
He was accurate. Revival begins personally when people are willing to confess their sins and repent of those specific sins.
Confession is agreeing with God, admitting it, calling sin what God calls it. Repentance is turning from the sin that you confess. When a person is willing to do this, they are granted mercy and their fellowship with God is restored.
On February 17, 2008, Midway Baptist Church in Jena, LA conducted a revival meeting. Monday night God's Spirit moved powerfully, but there were no outward decisions. As the service began on Tuesday, a lady stood up and said, "I can't wait. I have to get right with God tonight, and with others." She openly confessed her ill will toward another church member.
That confession was the beginning of 1 1/2 hours of confession and repentance. Revival broke out and it lasted for nine weeks spreading throughout the parish involving other churches, denominations and across racial lines. Lives continue to be affected by the revival. A key to revival is to confess our sins and repent.
It's Time to Pray
1. Allow God to reveal any unconfessed sin. Confess, repent and claim 1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
